Math Tools:

Another great resource from the Math Forum at Drexel University (used to be at Swarthmore). Their weekly newsletter highlights new ideas and tools for teaching and learning math. A wide variety nicely catalogued - easy to get lost in time just browsing around!

Mathematics Guide:

Sort of a general information site for mathematics. Contains topics, tutorials, and a math help feature. From About.com

Center for Math and Science Education:

A nice listing of resources posted by the University of North Carolina.

SMILE Program Mathematics Index:

A collection of about 200 single concept mathematics lessons organized into nine different strands, or content areas. This Science and Mathematics Initiative for Learning Enhancement site also contains lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Sponsored by the Illinois Institute of Technology.

Math Archives:

An archive of math resources organized by categories including topics, software, teaching materials, and links.

Interactive WWW Games:

A selection of interactive games (some require Java, others do not) from the Scientific Computing and Visualization Group Web server at Boston University.

Math Quotes:

A collection of thoughtful utterances about mathematics.

Math in the Movies:

Really. A listing of scenes involving mathematics that have appeared in films and cinema. The authors annotate each entry with a rating system and narrative, which is fun to read. As you might guess, there are some instances where mathematics is not well served.

Math and Computer Science Hotlist:

Links to a wide variety of math pages.

NCTM Home Page:

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics has been one of the driving forces behind math education reform in the U.S. Their home page provides information about their activities and math standards. Great resource for parents and teachers alike. Check out the online version of their Journal for Research in Mathematics Education at JRME Online.

Mathematics Center:

Houghton-Mifflin's math resources site. I've included it because there's a pretty good selection of resources for parents wanting information about exploring mathematics with their children.

E-Math:

A guide to E-mail based volunteer programs designed to help students master challenging mathematics, science and technology.

AIMS Education Foundation:

Activities that Integrate Math and Science (AIMS) are the focus here. You can sample some of the activities available through the foundation and visit some math history resources, There's a lot more, too.

MATHCOUNTS:

MATHCOUNTS is a national math coaching and competition program for 7th and 8th grade students. Their site contains a Problem of the Week and an archive of math problems. There's general information about the MATHCOUNTS program, as well.

Skymath:

This site is primarily for teachers, but contains a wealth of information about mathematics standards and applications that parents can access. The focus is on real time data collection and analysis relating to weather and weather systems. Fifteen lesson activities are detailed which can be used in the classroom.

Newton's Window:

A mathematics resource for parents and educators whose purpose is to help them connect kids to mathematics. There are articles, a newsletter, math challenges for kids (and adults!), grade level resources and more.

Daily Lesson Plans:

Interdisciplinary lesson plans from the New York Times. Other subjects included as well as mathematics.

Math Stories:

Story problems for elementary students. Categorized by grade level and topic. Includes a section of math stories based on children's books.

Chevron Community:

Twelve award-winning lesson plans for grades 6-12 in mathematics, science and technology. Selected from 250 entrants.

Math Goodies:

A collection of interactive math lessons on various math topics. Designed to engage students in the learning of math through a problem-solving approach. The site also contains chat rooms for teachers and parents, and homework help

Mudd Math Fun Facts:

A collection of short, interesting math 'fun facts' that can be used to stimulate kids' interest in math. Good for start-of-class warm-ups, or as a short filler when you have 5-10 minutes. Sponsored by Harvey Mudd College Math Department.

Patterns in Mathematics:

From the Teacher's Lab of the Annenberg/CPB Math and Science Project. Provides an understanding of patterns and how to use them in the classroom.

VMI:

The Visual Math Institute's mission is to explore cutting edge chaos theory, but the site also contains Visual Euclid, and information about reform in math education at all school levels.

Zoomerang:

Create Surveys and get feedback at this free site.

MyTestBook:

Create worksheets and practice tests in a variety of math content. I see them as good mantal math exercises as well. The materials, on-line and downloadable, are free with registration.
