U.S.S. CONSTITUTION MAKES INDEPENDANCE DAY CRUISE

THE U.S.S. Constitution during its first cruise under sail in 116 years last year.

THE U.S.S. Constitution was turned in its berth in Boston Harbor to facilitate even weathering of her hull on July 4th. The maneuver is performed annually on Independance day. This years "cruise was marked by the naturalization of a group of new U.S. citizens on board. MORE.

JULY 17th MARKS 198th ANNIVERSARY OF ACTION AT EGG HARBOR


July 17th Marks the 198th anniversary of the fight between the U.S.F. Constitution and HMF Guerriere. During the 20 minute action Constitution out maneuvered Guerriere damageing her beyond salvageing. Because British shot, fired at point blank range, was seen to bounce of the Hull of The Constitution she earned the nick name "Old Ironsides".
