I am a middle school student and I was looking around the web when I found your website.
I am writing a report on Steve Prefontaine as I have started to have interest in running and the information on your website as well as the pictures proved to be valuable.
I am required to submit an interview on my report as a reference source. Would be available to answer a few questions about Prefontaine? If you knew him well enough, I would appreciate your telling me about Prefontaine as well as a little bit about yourself and your running career at Oregon so that I could refer to you throughout my project.
Thank you. Please respond to my email at your earliest convenience.
1. What was the best thing about knowing Steve Prefontaine and being friends with him? How long did you know him?
2. Did you go to Marshfield High School with him? If so, did he get good grades and do his homework or was he a lot more concentrated on his running?
3. What was his best accomplishment in a race in your opinion?
4. What did you and Pre do together after college?
5. What was Steve Prefontaine’s personality like?
6. What other talents or events was he known for other than his exceptional running abilities?
7. What else do you think the public should’ve been told about his death on May 30, 1975?
8. What was the most saddening part of his death?
9. Have you ever been to Pre’s Rock? What is so memorable about it to you?
10. Does Prefontaine continue to motivate or influence you today?
11. Whose house was the party held at? Could you give some details about the final moments before his death that night?
12. What events in track and field did you run? What were your best times? What was your best accomplishment?
I apologize in advance if these questions are too personal.
